Our Client is a leading European alternative credit manager with a strong presence across key financial hubs.
Active in private debt and direct lending, they are seeking a Compliance Officer (RC) to oversee AML compliance for their Luxembourg-based AIFM and managed funds.
Your areas of responsibility:
AML/CTF Framework Oversight
- Maintain and enhance the AML framework in accordance with Luxembourg and EU-wide regulations.
- Develop and update AML risk assessments for the AIFM and its funds.
- Monitor adherence to AML Risk Appetite Statements and update as needed.
- Oversee CDD, KYC, and asset due diligence measures executed by internal teams or delegated service providers.
- Produce and maintain AML country risk assessments.
- Participate in AML-related projects (new regulations, new markets, product launches).
- Stay current on legal and regulatory developments and adapt internal procedures accordingly.
Regulatory Reporting
- Serve as the main point of contact with CSSF, AED, FIU, and Ministry of Finance for AML matters.
- Draft and submit annual AML reports and questionnaires to regulators.
- Provide regular and ad-hoc reports to internal Boards and Committees on AML matters.
Monitoring & Operational Oversight
- Oversee AML compliance performed by third-party service providers.
- Organize service review meetings, track KPIs, and conduct due diligence (including sample testing and onsite visits).
- Handle escalations from AML teams or service providers and guide on appropriate responses.
- Manage registers for PEPs, high-risk clients, and high-risk regions.
- Provide AML guidance to senior management and Boards.
Team Management & Training
- Lead the Luxembourg AML team, including oversight of London-based staff.
- Develop and deliver AML training for staff across Luxembourg, London, and branch offices.
- Maintain AML training calendar and update teams on regulatory changes.
Compliance Culture
- Uphold individual conduct standards: integrity, diligence, regulatory cooperation, customer fairness, and proper market conduct.
Your profile:
- Strong academic background, ideally with a relevant undergraduate degree.
- Solid experience in AML and regulatory compliance, ideally in an AIFM environment.
- Familiarity with the private debt sector is a strong advantage.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, especially in presenting to senior stakeholders and Boards.
- Demonstrated ability to manage cross-border teams and complex compliance frameworks.
- Fluency in English; additional languages are an asset.
- Highly organised, solution-driven, and comfortable with ambiguity and evolving regulations.
- Resilient, collaborative, and driven to maintain a culture of integrity and compliance.
