Job Description

Our Client is a fast-evolving investment firm in the process of obtaining its MiFID in Luxembourg.

They are seeking a senior professional to act as both Chief Risk Officer and Authorised Manager, responsible for leading the internal control and risk management framework, ensuring full compliance with MiFID II and CSSF requirements.

This is a high-impact position reporting directly to the Board of Directors.

 

Your areas of responsibility:

Internal Control & Risk Management

  • Design, implement, and maintain internal control and risk management frameworks aligned with MiFID II and CSSF guidelines.
  • Monitor compliance with prudential requirements on solvency and liquidity, in coordination with finance and trading teams.
  • Ensure policies and procedures are implemented, followed, and kept up to date across business lines.
  • Conduct regular risk assessments and scenario analyses for the firm’s debt instrument activities.
  • Oversee adherence to internal risk appetite and ensure prompt escalation of breaches or exceptions.
  • Report regularly to the Board on risk indicators, control effectiveness, and emerging risks.
  • Liaise with internal/external auditors and the CSSF on risk-related matters.

 

Authorised Management Responsibilities

  • Ensure effective and prudent management of daily operations and strategic risks.
  • Implement business strategy and risk governance aligned with Board directives.
  • Establish and review internal governance, controls, resources, and IT infrastructure.
  • Promote a strong culture of compliance, risk awareness, and ethical conduct.
  • Guarantee access to reliable management information at all decision-making levels.
  • Oversee corrective actions for identified control weaknesses or compliance issues.
  • Maintain active communication with other members of management, the Board, and regulatory authorities.

 

Your profile:

  • At least 10 years of relevant experience in risk management, compliance, or audit within financial services.
  • Advanced degree in Law, Finance, Risk Management, or Business Administration.
  • Deep understanding of MiFID II, CSSF regulations, and internal control frameworks.
  • Experience in fixed income markets and valuation of debt instruments.
  • Strong leadership, communication, and analytical abilities.
  • Fluent in English; French or German is a plus.
  • Eligible for CSSF approval as dirigeant agréé and Chief Risk Officer.
  • Demonstrates sound judgement, independence of mind, integrity, and professional reputation.
