Conducting Officer: Risk Management
An excellent opportunity for a motivated Risk Manager who is looking to take the next step to become a Conducting Officer and join an international alternative asset fund management group focused on private equity and credit investments.
As part of their growing presence globally, this firm is in the final stages of establishing an AIFM in Luxembourg. They are looking for a Conducting Officer for Risk Management to perform a key role for the AIFM in respect of the Luxembourg investment funds. You will report to the Board of the AIFM and will be expected to engage with senior management, as well as other key stakeholders on risk management matters. You will contribute to facilitating a best-in-class risk management function, shaping, and defining the risk management framework from the start.
Key Responsibilities:
- Define and develop the risk management program and operating framework, including Market Risk, Liquidity Risk, Credit Risk, Counterparty Risk, ESG Risk, Valuation Risk and Operational Risk associated with the AIFs managed by the AIFM.
- Develop and define the risk profile of each of the AIFs managed by the AIFM as set out in the relevant AIF’s governing documents.
- Responsible for the ongoing identification, measurement, management and monitoring of the risks associated with the underlying investments within the AIFs managed by the AIFM.
- Responsible for the annual review of the RMP, the risk management policy as well as ongoing maintenance of proportionate risk management procedures, in conjunction with group-wide policies & procedures, to detect any risk of breaches with applicable requirements.
- On a daily basis as applicable, prepare the relevant risk controls and preliminary assessment in connection with the acquisition / disposal of underlying investments.
- On a monthly basis as applicable, prepare and present the risk management updates to the Conducting Officers committee.
- On a quarterly basis and in connection with the quarter end NAV activities, prepare and present the risk management report to the AIFM Board.
- On an annual basis and in connection with the year-end reporting activities, prepare and present the risk management annual report to the AIFM Board.
- Expected to participate and actively contribute to relevant Group led projects, initiatives, working groups.
- Expected to interact with the Portfolio Management Function and the Compliance Function in the context of the day-to-day work.
- Analysis of risk management/operational issues, interventions and follow-up: analyses the issues observed and recommends, where applicable, corrective measures to address these deficiencies.
- Assistance and advice to senior management in risk management matters.
- Communication with authorities: responsible for fulfilling the notification requirements to the authorities regarding risk management as required.
- Documentation of the work and internal reporting: maintain robust records and contribute to periodic reporting on risk management matters to senior management and other key stakeholders.
Your Profile:
- At least 6-8 years of relevant experience in risk management within the alternative investment space, preferably from an AIFM or a management company.
- Good practical knowledge of the Luxembourg alternatives fund industry, structures and regulations, including AIFMD, FRM, CFA, CAIA or other relevant qualification is beneficial.
- Operates in an organised, structured and efficient manner with an appropriate focus to details.
- Displays strong verbal and written skills, ensures clear, transparent, concise and appropriate communication.
- Utilises own organised style of working with a high attention to detail.
- Recognises flexibility is key and applies an adaptable style of working able to cope which quickly changing demands and priorities.
- Demonstrates a willingness to assess all viable and practical alternatives to solve an issue rather than focusing on a solution that takes the path of least resistance.
- Builds competency in the use of firm and group technology and is more productive as a result.
